Intermediate drill collars (5-1/2″ to 7″) face intense axial loads. Pan 2513 buttons are designed to meet these mechanical demands:
Advanced Surface Hardness: Every button is carburized to a surface hardness of 58-62 HRC, allowing the teeth to bite through heavy drilling fluids, rust, and pipe scale for a consistent grip.
Impact-Resistant Core: While the teeth are rock-hard, the inner core is kept ductile. This prevents the button from “shattering” or popping out of the slip segment when the slips are set under the weight of a heavy drill collar string.
Precision Geometry: Machined to exact OEM tolerances to ensure a perfect “press-fit” in the slip’s circular pockets, eliminating the vibration and button-roll that causes premature tool wear.
